Lace Maintenance 101
How long does your installs last?
Can I tell you dolls a secret? My installs always lasted 3 days maximum. I thought it was the glue, I thought it was my skin and thought it was my stylist until I actually began practicing true hair care maintenance. Here are some tips that I found super helpful.
- Do not put makeup on your lace everyday - Makeup gets cakey and gross sometimes. The first day it makes the lace look flawless, but as time goes by it gets thick and you can see exactly where the lace stops and forehead starts.
- Do not use glue/freeze spray everyday - glue has the same effect as makeup. It will cause your lace to lift.
- Do not constantly use gel to lay baby hairs, instead use mousse - Gel leaves the baby hairs crunchy, they eventually get too weak and fall off of the lace.
- Melt bands work PERFECTLY for melting, but sis get you a scarf to tie your lace down at night. - Melt bands trap sweat and most times cause your lace to move/lift. You will see a difference immediately.
- When a certain section on your hair is lifting, it's okay to use alcohol to remove the old glue and apply new glue. New glue over old glue won't allow your lace to melt.
